What Colonization and Decolonization Really Mean
Addendum to Take Your Compass #13 Special on Antifa
There is a citizen journalist I follow by the name of Karlyn Borysenko. I do not recommend following her for reasons I do not need to go into, but she does some good work, and sometimes she absolutely nails a topic. You can find her here: https://substack.com/@karlyn
Read her take below on Colonization and Decolonization. She is 100% correct.
The #1 enemy of the left is always capitalism.
They define capitalism as private property.
Every time you want to know the definitions of terms the left uses, you must remember that all roads lead to capitalism and private property.
Let’s take the current conflict in the middle east - you’re hearing the words “colonization” and “decolonization” a lot.
Colonization is when the oppressive force of capitalism takes property from indigenous (oppressed) people and privatizes it under new ownership.
This is what the left believes Israel did to Palestine.
They are cheering for Hamas because they believe Hamas is decolonizing Palestine.
Decolonization, then, means removing the oppressive force of capitalism.
In the case of Hamas, that means violent revolution.
The left doesn’t mind violence…but that doesn’t mean that all decolonization efforts are violent. In fact, some go almost entirely unnoticed because they remove capitalism through laws and policies.
An example would be taking parental rights away, because they believe the nuclear family only exists to uphold capitalism.
As I was putting this together I was reading some more of Ms. Borysenko’s writing. I think I have a significant foundational difference with her, but her work is insightful and helpful. I am going to flip and recommend that you follow her Substack:
Thank you for reading, and God Bless!
